The northern portion of the Thomas Lands Road in the vicinity of the Young Men Christian Association (YMCA) has been sinking for a number of months posing a serious traffic hazard.

Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill, told this newspaper in an interview that the authorities  are currently seeking the best option that would ensure the stability of the road.

“The Thomas Lands road has two drains on either side, [and] the movement [of the traffic] has been affecting the stability of the road. We just can’t build the road, we have to be able to put in the correct engineering solutions,” he observed.

The minister went on to say that the placing of a revetment, or the use of geotextile or geo-cells to ensure the stability of the road is currently under consideration.
