Six dead after West Berbice accident – police

Multiple deaths have been reported thus far following an early morning West Coast Berbice (WCB) accident.

Mark Ramotar, Head of the Guyana Police Force’s Communications Unit, this morning confirmed that six persons died as a result of the accident. Five of the deceased have been identified as Joel Jacobs, 29, of Sophia, Jamal Lynch, 22, of 26 Hopetown, WCB, and Linden McFarlane, 23, of Bel Air, WCB, who were travelling in a car, PNN 3526, Jason Saul, 20, of Bel Air, WCB, and Keanna Dow of Belladrum, WCB.

According to Commander of Region Five, Kurleigh Simon, the accident occurred in Ross Village, West Coast Berbice, just before 04:00 hrs.

He noted that he was heading to the scene and at that time could confirm that there were “multiple deaths” reported.

Stabroek News was told that three vehicles were involved in the accident and one of them burst into flames after the impact.
