Ramdhani siblings to clash in mixed doubles final

The Ramdhani siblings Narayan and Priyanna last night battled each other in the final of the Trophy Stall sponsored Christmas Open doubles competition with the winner set to be the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament.

In the semi-finals on Wednesday, the second day of competition, Priyanna Ramdhani and Akili Haynes bested Jonathan Mangra and Shivannie Persaud 21-12, 21-5 to book their place in the final.

Their opponents, Narayan Ramdhani and Mishka Beharry defeated Marlon Chung and Ambika Ramraj 21-10, 21-15 to set up the sibling showdown.

In the mixed doubles third place playoffs, Mangra and Persaud defeated Chung and Ramraj 16-21, 21-16, 21-11.

Narayan Ramdhani is also through to the men’s doubles final with Jonathan Mangra, the pair defeating  Easa Sanichara  and Matthew Beharry  21-15, 21-7 while Haynes  and Tyrese Jeffrey defeated Chung  and Priyanna Ramdhani   21-14, 21-14.

In the men’s doubles third place playoffs, Chung and Priyanna Ramdhani defeated Sanichara and Matthew Beharry 21-16, 21-12.

In the women’s doubles semi-finals, Priyanna Ramdhani and Shivannie Persaud defeated Priyanka Shivnauth and Mishka Beharry     21-6, 21-14, while Christina Kumar and Anna Perreira defeated Ayanna Watson and Emily Ramdhani 21-12, 21-18.

In the women’s doubles third place playoffs, Watson and Emily Ramdhani defeated Shivnauth and Beharry 17-21, 22-20, 21-18.
