Edinburgh teen injured in Gay Park accident

An Edinburgh, East Bank Berbice (EBB) teenager is now in the New Amsterdam Public Hospital in a serious condition after he was involved in an accident along the Gay Park Public Road on Sunday evening.

According to information gathered, Mark Chow, 18, was riding motorcycle CK 9861, while Olton Fraser, 40, of Kortberaad Village, EBB, was driving motorcar HC 1888 at the time of the 7 pm accident.

The Guyana Police Force yesterday said that the motorcyclist “collided (with) the right side rear of the said car before being flung onto the right side rear windshield (and then)  falling onto the road surface.”

Chow, who sustained serious injuries about his head and body, was rushed to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital.

As of yesterday afternoon, his condition remained serious but stable.

The police said  that a breathalyzer test was conducted on the driver of the motorcar however no alcohol was found on his breath. He remains in custody assisting with investigations, they noted.
