Over 100 students aged seven to 15 years old are benefitting from a compre-hensive online program-me, conducted by the Guyana Chess Federation (GCF), to learn and study the game of chess.

The GCF’s online chess programme has commenc-ed for 2022 and so far 20 schools have registered. The Bishops’ High, through its physical education teacher Daniel Benjamin, and the Anna Regina Secondary, through its headmaster Lalljeet Rooplall, are the latest schools to join the initiative. Meanwhile, the GCF’s online National Under-12 seven-round Rapid Championship was played yesterday. It was sponsored by De Sinco Trading Limited which contributed $150,000 for prizes. Chief Executive Officer Alicia DeAbreu com-mented in part: “We are a company that strongly believes in giving back to the community in which we operate. We are proud to add this partnership to our corporate social respon-sibilities which we have done over the years. 2022 will be no different and we are committed whenever and wherever our help is needed.”
