Dear Editor,
I am appalled and truly saddened at the depths of depravity to which our Parliamentary debates have sunk.
There can be absolutely no excuse for the vile remark that was thrown at the female Honourable Member of Parliament. The uttering of such a gutter statement shows the contempt in which that person holds the Honourable member, and by extension, all women.
With the future of our country at stake, we can little afford to have our Parliament descend to this disgraceful level. What has become of the tenets of dignity and decency?
We may never know the extent of the harm that the spewing of such vileness in Parliament, our highest forum where members are referred to as Honourable, has had on the minds of the youth of this our land, who would have heard it through their constant use of social media. We may only see and hear the unpleasant results as time goes by.
It is therefore imperative that appropriate sanctions be imposed.
