Franklin, Edghill to spearhead TT teams to C/bean C/ships

Recently crowned national men’s singles champions Christopher Franklin and Chelsea Edghill will spearhead the Guyana men and women’s teams to this year’s Caribbean Table Tennis Championships.

The championships will be held from March 3-8 in Cuba.

Although the Guyana Table Tennis Association has not given a release, it was reported in another section of the media that the GTTA had named a men and women’s team for the championships.

Franklin will receive support from Shemar Britton a longstanding member of the men’s team.

Missing from the men’s team are regulars Nigel Bryan and Joel Alleyne.

Bryan did not participate in the national championships while Alleyne failed to reach the last four.

The newcomers to the team are 22-year-old Miguel Wong and 15-year old national cricketer, Jonathan Van Lange, who both reached the semi-finals of the men’s singles with Wong eliminating Alleyne 4-1 in their quarter-final clash.

The women’s team will be spearheaded by Olympian Edghill with Natalie Cummings, Trenace Lowe and Priscilla Greaves, the other members it was reported.
