Two for trial over murder of Regent St mall owner

The trial of Kurt Erskine and Lennox Roberts who are accused of the 2015 murder of Regent Multiplex Mall proprietor Ganesh Ramlall, is set to commence on Monday, February 28th, at the High Court in Demerara.

The jury hearing the case was empaneled yesterday morning before Justice Simone Morris-Ramlall.

The indictment against the jointly-charged duo read at their arraignment yesterday, states that they murdered Ramlall on July 5th, 2015 during the course or furtherance of a robbery.

They have both pleaded not guilty to the capital charge.

Erskine is being represented by defence attorney Lyndon Amsterdam, while Roberts is being represented by defence attorney George Thomas.

Representing the State meanwhile are attorneys Konyo Sandiford and Narissa Leander who will be calling just under two dozen witnesses to the stand.
