Charged with stabbing boy, 15, at Stabroek Market tarmac

An 18-year-old   was yesterday charged with stabbing a 15-year-old boy in the region of his heart.

Claudius James was taken before Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

He was not required to plead to the charge that alleges that on February 22, at Stabroek Market, Georgetown, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded the boy with intent to murder him.

The boy’s mother who was present at court told the Magistrate that her son suffered a stab that is 2 cm in length, to the region of his heart. She said that her son also has lung failure due to the injury.

The Police Prosecutor told the court that the boy had an issue with James and James’ brother. The stabbing occurred at the Stabroek Market Tarmac.

James was denied bail and the matter was adjourned until March 21.
