A policeman who was granted bail on a charge of attempting to pervert the course of justice, was yesterday freed after the virtual complainant decided not to give evidence in the matter.

Constable Mario Parsram of the Criminal Investigation Department Head-quarters appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the George-town Magistrate’s Court where the matter was dismissed for want of prosecution.

Parsram was initially charged in January when Magistrate Rhondel Weever read the charge to him and he pleaded not guilty.

According to the particulars of the case, Parsram between June 9, 2021 and July 6, 2021 at Georgetown, willfully attempted to obstruct or pervert the course of justice in a bid to forego criminal charges against Patris Petrie.

Parsram was represented by attorney-at-law Bernard Da Silva who made a successful bail application which enabled him to be released on $100,000 bail.
