Everest Cricket Club yesterday handed American Cricket Society (ACS) their first loss, a six wicket defeat, on their Goodwill tour of Guyana.

ACS batting first were restricted to 129 for seven off their allotted 20 overs at Everest ground, Camp Road with heavy winds sweeping across the venue in overcast conditions. Everest then cruised to 130 for four with 4.2 overs to spare.

The chase was piloted by West Indies U19 batsman, Matthew Nandu, the left-hander racing to a ball-a-run 60, decorated with five boundaries before he was trapped leg before wicket to part time spinner, Dominique Rikhi (2-9).

Nandu shared an 81-run third-wicket partnership with captain, Akshaya Persaud, who was fortunate to be put down on 27 and went on to make 43 from 38 balls.

Persaud hammered two sixes, one of which was dispatched inches away from the fence at long on separating Everest ground from Carifesta Avenue to complement his three fours. The skipper was dismissed by Rikhi in the same over as Nandu, holding out to mid-wicket where Randall Wilson pulled off a splendid juggling catch.

Assad Fudadin finished off proceedings  hitting the second ball he faced into the packed pavilion over long on for a six. He ended on 11 not out from five balls. Earlier, Rikhi shared in a 40-run opening stand with Wilson (10) racing to 25 with  four boundaries. However, with cameos from Kevon Boodie (16) and Oraine Williams (11), ACS were in a spot of bother as off-spinner Richie Looknauth bagged 3-7.

Trinson Carmichael scored 31 not out from 26 balls. He struck four fours and a six and added 36 for the seventh wicket with Damion Jacobs (13). Gudakesh Motie picked up 2-41.

ACS will now play their fifth straight match of the tour today, this time against Guyana XI at Everest from 10.30 hours.
