Security guard charged with assaulting minor, damaging property

A security guard attached to the Guyana Forensic Lab was granted $15,000 bail yesterday after being charged with assaulting a 17-year-old minor and damaging her property.

Paul Noel, 31, of Anna Catherina, West Coast of Deme-rara appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, where the two charges were read to him.

It is alleged that on Thursday, March 24, at Adelaide Street, Charlestown, he unlawfully assaulted the teen, causing her bodily harm.

It is also alleged that on the same date and at the same place he damaged an iPhone, valued $95,000, which was the property of the minor.

The man pleaded not guilty to both charges and was granted $5,000 bail on the unlawful assault charge and $10,000 bail on the damage to property charge.

The matters were adjourned until April 5, 2022.
