Power company in community outreaches

As part of its efforts at strengthening relations with its customers, the Guyana Power and Light Inc (GPL) is engaging in a series of Community Outreaches and is encouraging customers to participate in these engagements.

According to a GPL release on Friday, the utility anticipates that these community engagements will enable it to better understand the challenges customers are experiencing and how to further improve customer service. And since this can only be achieved with active participation, the utility is urging its customers to attend the engagements when it comes to their communities.

The release assured that all communities will be informed in advance of planned outreaches.

On Wednesday, March 30, the company held its second Community Outreach for the year at the Blairmont Sports Ground, West Bank Berbice. There, GPL staff spoke with residents of Shieldstown, Zorg-en-Hoop, Balthyck, Old Scheme, and Ithaca. During the engagement residents were able to make applications for electricity as well as provide feedback on the company’s services and other related matters that required attention. They were also informed of the services offered.

GPL’s team comprised of Assistant Corporate Communication Officer, Ranetta La Fleur; Customer Services Officer, Bibi Khan; Customer Services Supervisor, Onverwagt, Pearl London; Electrical Engineer Metering Department, Godfrey Success, and support staff of Customer Services and Loss Reduction.

Outreaches are planned for other communities in Berbice and Demerara, Essequibo and Bartica. In February a similar outreach was held in Black Bush Polder, the release added.
