Sisters’ Village man murdered by friends after argument

A Sisters’ Village, West Bank Demerara father of three, was on Wednesday murdered following an argument with another man.

The deceased has been identified as 32-year-old Devon Cummings also known as ‘Palmer’.

According to a police report, about 4:50 pm, Cummings and one of his friends were coming from the backdam when they saw some friends including the two suspects imbibing at a restaurant at Back Street, Goed Intent, West Bank Demerara.

It was reported that at the time, one of the two suspects who invited the deceased to take a “shot of Blackstone rum” was holding a cutlass. Cummings and his friend accepted the suspect’s invitation but as he did, the suspect began teasing him which prompted him to leave. However, as Cummings walked out of the shop, he got into an argument with another man.

Reports indicate that Cummings then hit the other man which led to one of the suspects taking a cutlass he was carrying, and chopping him in the head. Meanwhile the second suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed him in his chest.

The suspects then fled.

Cummings was rushed to the West Demerara Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.

The deceased’s body is currently at the Ezekiel’s Funeral Home awaiting an autopsy.

Following information received, police have arrested a Goed Intent man.
