Roger ‘Young Bill Rogers’ Hinds and Ryan Adams have teamed up to record the single “Family” and they dropped both the song and video last week; the latter has since garnered over 10,000 views.

The Chutney and Soca fusion song with a Bollywood flair encourages listeners to love their family and be grateful for the sacrifices they’ve made for them. It further admonishes people not to use violence and instead realise that tomorrow is promised to no one and as such, it is important to spread love and let loved ones know they are appreciated.

“Family” was lyrically composed by Young Bill Rogers, Ryan and Nishal Balkissoon (‘Nishal B’). The video was also produced by Nishal B, while the song was recorded and produced by Bunty Singh’s BK Vijay Studio.

Roger said he had reached out to US-based Guyanese producer Robby Bissoon, who resides in Florida, about sponsoring a song. “I told him I wanted to do a solo Bollywood song and he asked me to connect with Ryan Adams as he was looking for a [duet] instead,” Roger said. He added that it was Ryan who decided on using a known Bollywood melody, which they agreed upon. Prior to this, they each wrote parts of the song then reached out to Nishal B for his input before finalising it.

Roger said he, Ryan and Nishal B are currently in talks with Bissoon about working on other song productions in the future. He added that if all goes as planned, they could also be headed to Florida in the future to perform at concerts there.

Meanwhile, Ryan who recently participated in the Future Stars Talent Competition in Trinidad and Tobago and copped first place said, “It was awesome working with the guys and shooting the video.”

He shared that when the trio decided on doing the video for the song, they had no idea if people would be willing to be part of it. He recalled that his wife took the initiative to post on social media asking for volunteers, which resulted in a family from Berbice volunteering. Roger also reached out to two people at his end and as such, the video was shot.

Ryan, who has released seven songs to date and is known for his song “Pastry Man”, said he was disappointed to note that there is quite a number of songs that encourage the drinking of alcohol. The singer said that as a member of the Islamic community, he is all about releasing inspirational songs.

“Many people have reached out and commented that they love the song,” Ryan said.

Both singers also took the opportunity to thank Mervin, Juliana and the family from Berbice for their participation in the video.
