Wanted: Ryvan Shervin Francis

The Police today issued a wanted bulletin for Ryvan Shervin Francis in relation to the murder of Levoy Taljit in December of 2013.

Francis is 44 and his last known address is Lot 4 B Sharma Alley, Soesdyke, East Bank Demerara.

Anyone aware of his whereabouts is asked to contact the police  on 216-0251, 216-0254, 216-0251, 444-3429, 225-6978, 225-8196 or the nearest police station.

Taljit, a Guyana Energy Agency (GEA) field manager at the time, is believed to have been killed sometime between December 23-24, 2013.  His body has never been found.

The wanted bulletin comes just eight days after Stabroek News published a news item on the nine-year-old cold case.  It is unclear why a bulletin was never before issued for Francis.

Taljit of Anira Street, Queenstown mysteriously disappeared on December 23, 2012. He was last seen driving his Toyota Raum motor vehicle, PNN 8315, which was later found vandalised days after along the Linden-Soesdyke highway.

Hours before he went missing, Taljit was scheduled to go to the supermarket with his mother.

In a recent interview with Stabroek News, Taljit’s father, Basil said that he has not given up and is still searching for answers.

He said he last checked with the police for an update during last year. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and him not being well, he hasn’t been able to follow up.  “Everytime me ask them (police), them seh they working on it. We went to them a couple of times,” Basil said.

After this, Basil said the ranks who were investigating the matters were reassigned.

However, in an invited comment, Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum had told Stabroek News that the case file has been assigned to investigators from the Guyana Police Force Cold Case Unit, who were examining “several” pieces of documentary evidence.
