King St man fined for stealing car mirrors

A King Street man was yesterday fined for stealing mirrors from two cars.

Brian Robinson, 63, appeared in a city court where he was faced with two charges.

According to the charges, which were read by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan, on April 11, 2022, at Brickdam, he stole a car mirror belonging to Robin Oswald, and two car mirrors belonging to Bibi Seeraj.

The court heard that on the day in question, Oswald was sitting in his car when he looked through his window and saw the suspect removing his mirror. He then apprehended the suspect and searched him and the mirror was found in his possession.

In the case of Seeraj, she parked and secured her car in a parking lot. On returning to her car, she noticed that her car mirrors were missing and as a result she made a report. Robinson was later summoned and the car mirrors were also found in his possession.

The man pleaded guilty to both charges and was fined $20,000 on each charge with an alternative of two weeks imprisonment if he fails to pay either of the fines.
