Police in Region Seven are probing the murder of Vanessa Rodrigues, called ‘Chinee girl’, a 36-year-old female from Lethem, in Region #9.
Commander Dion Moore said the incident occurred between 2022-04-12 and 2022-04-13 at Papi Landing, Middle Mazaruni River.
The scene was visited on 2022-04-13 at about 10:50 hrs by Cpl #21665 Crandon and a party of Police ranks.
Enquiries thus far revealed that the victim was last seen sometime on the evening of 2022/04/12 in the company of a male, who is now a suspect.
At around 10:00 hrs today, her body was found lying face down in a track with a chop wound to her head and several other marks of violence about her body.
The body was clad in a blue blouse and red and black pants.
The suspect is presently in custody assisting with the investigation.
The woman’s body and the suspect were both escorted to Bartica, as further investigations continue.
