Nominations are open to the public for the 25 Influential Women Leaders Awards (25IWLA), which have returned to highlight the outstanding achievements of women nationwide.

The awards were created by The NICO Consulting, Inc. and Cerulean Incorporated to recognize the success of national and regional women leaders.

“We encourage members of the public to nominate truly outstanding female leaders in any field, so that they may be considered to be a recipient of this honour,” co-creators Michelle A. Nicholas and Lyndell Danzie-Black said in a press release announcing the return of the awards.

Nomination forms for this award are available on the 25IWLA social media pages including Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram.

The release noted that the awards are unique in the focus on honouring women leaders from every sector, rather than a single industry or endeavor.

“Women are powerful agents of change. They broke glass ceilings and push the frontiers of women’s leadership. This award brings together a powerful network of influential women in Guyana with the lens of inclusion, diversity, and equity. What began as a dream is now a significant movement. It is an honour to be able to recognize eminent women who nurture, inspire and challenge us, and who are making a difference in their communities and the world. We’ve all witnessed the benefits of women in leadership and journeyed through Her Stories. I look forward to celebrating our 2022 formidable women leaders,” Nicholas, Founder/CEO of the NICO Consulting Inc., was quoted as saying.

“As I observe an increase in the participation and empowerment of women, I am heartened by the number of programmes and projects championed by women. This creates an opportunity society to celebrate more and more women in various strata. In spite of the recent global challenges, we persevered, and this is our third Awards Ceremony and we are grateful for our many corporate citizens, community leaders and supporters who relentlessly continue to nominate and celebrate women leaders from across Guyana with us. This year we look forward to celebrating another 25 inspiring leaders,”Danzie-Black, Managing Director of Cerulean Inc. added.

At the end of the nominations period on May 15, a panel of judges will convene to select the 25 recipients of this year’s award, before the honorees grace the red carpet to receive their distinguished accolades at the gala event that has become a highlight of Guyana’s social calendar.

The awards will be held at the Guyana Marriott Hotel on Saturday June 18, 2022.

Already, a total of 50 women leaders have been recognized for their contributions to Guyana and Guyanese since the inaugural event in 2019.

Even more importantly, the release said, this curated group of female leadership talent has been given the chance to empower each other to elevate their abilities and achieve exponential impacts in their work, through creating a dynamic community where women leaders can cross pollinate ideas and networks.

The release noted that the aim of the 25IWLA is to redress the underrepresentation of women and transform how women leaders are viewed in Guyana by recognizing their value, achievements and contributions. “The award is designed to turn the spotlight on women – with 25 awardees who truly stand out for their passion and commitment to uplifting the business sector, their communities and society,” it added.
