Sophia cousins shot after altercation

Two Sophia cousins are nursing gunshot wounds at the Georgetown Public Hospital following an  incident in North Sophia in the wee hours of Saturday.

Police are currently hunting for the suspect.

Police in a press release identified the victims as 27-year-old labourer, Yardan Jacobs and his cousin, 29-year-old businessman Steve Bacchus, both of North Sophia.

Enquiries revealed that just after midnight on Saturday, Jacobs was at Tanary Area in North Sophia liming with friends when he reportedly got into an argument with the suspect. As a result, Jacobs’ cousin, Bacchus intervened.

The suspect then pulled a firearm from his pants and discharged several rounds in the direction of the cousins causing Jacobs to suffer a gunshot wound to the upper right side of his abdomen and Bacchus to sustain a gunshot injury to the lower right side of his back.

The suspect then fled the scene. Both men are listed as being in stable condition.

Police investigations are ongoing.
