Woman perishes in Bachelor’s Adventure fire

A 51-year-old woman lost her life in a fire that razed her Lot 14 Bachelor’s Adventure, East Coast Demerara (ECD) home yesterday.

The dead woman has been identified as Nicola Marshall Jacobs.

According to the police, the origin of the fire is yet to be determined by the Guyana Fire Service and the incident occurred sometime about 1 pm.

Initial investigations have revealed that Jacobs lived alone in the 20x25ft wooden structure and was last seen alive about 11am yesterday.

The firefighters from Melanie Fire Station were unable to save the building when they arrived on scene and during their investigation they discovered the partially burnt remains of Jacobs amid the debris. Her remains were escorted to Memorial Gardens Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination.

The building had no electricity.
