Eight teams battle for two spots as Mayor’s Cup heads to Den Amstel today

Eight teams will battle for the two remaining quarter-final spots when the Annual Mayor’s Cup nine-a-side Inter Ward/Village knockout football tournament continues at the Den Amstel ground today.

Pouderoyen against Stewartville; Sara Lodge versus Back Street Kings; Den Amstel against Uitvlugt and West Side Spartan and Bagotville are the teams in contention when play commences at 2pm today.

The winners from the four matchups will battle for the two available spots and will join Haslington, Sparta Boss, Bourda All Stars, Tucville, Friendship Front and Diamond.  

Some 48 teams commenced the competition which will today reach the last eight.

The quarter finals will take place on May 1 at the Buxton Community centre ground while the semi-finals and the grand finale will bring the curtain down on the 2022 competition held in honour of current Mayor of Georgetown, Mayor Ubraj Narine.  

The first prize is $600,000, second prize $300,000, third $200,000 and fourth $100,000.
