Sparta Boss cruises past East Front Road 6-0

Sparta Boss made light work of East Front Road Saturday evening when the Magnum Independence Cup competition continued at the National Park Tarmac, Thomas Lands.

The tournament contenders breezed to a 6-0 defeat of East Front Road with Ryan Hackett and Jermin Junior netting two goals each.

Hackett netted in the 18th and 19th minute while Junior added his brace in the seventh and 22nd minute respectively.

Chipping in with goals in the fourth and 21st minute were Eusi Phillips and Nicholas MacArthur.

West Demerara giant Showstoppers hammered a disappointing Festival City unit 5-0 with Delon Lanferman bagging a double in the 11th and 12th minute.

The other goals were scored by Marvin Josiah, Dexroy Adams and Kevin Edghil wo scored in the third, 10th, and 20th minute respectively.

Back Circle overcame Mocha 4-2 scoring three of the goals in the first half. David George, Adrian Aaron, Selwyn Williams and Jermaine Beckles made their presence felt with goals in the fourth, seventh, ninth, and 24th minute while Amos Ramsay spared Mocha’s blushes by scoring twice in the second half netting in the 17th and 23rd minutes.

Albouystown behind goals from Trevon Campo and Kevin Tyrese in the sixth and 16th minute, battled past Road Warriors 2-1.  Randy Roberts scored Road Warriors consolation goal in the 19th minute.

In other results, Sophia edged Melanie 2-1, while Belfield Warriors defeated Leopold Street 2-0. Also, Tiger Bay downed Ansa McAl All-Stars 1-0 and North East La Penitence and Stabroek Ballers contested a 3-3 stalemate.

The tournament continues tomorrow with the final round of group matches at the same venue. The first prize is $700,000 and a  trophy while the runners-up will receive $400,000 and a trophy. The third and fourth place finishers will walk away with $200,000 and $100,000 respectively.
