Gold is Money, Showstoppers to take centre stage

An exciting quarterfinal round of matches will be contested tonight in the Magnum Independence Cup at the National Park Tarmac, as defending champion Bent Street battles Melanie, Sparta Boss tackles Future Stars, North East La Penitence opposes Back Circle, and Gold is Money engages Showstoppers.

The North East La Penitence/Back Circle encounter will commence the activities at 19:00hrs before Gold is Money, and Showstoppers take centre stage at 19:45hrs. Bent Street and Melanie will then enter at 20:30hrs before the marquee clash between Future Stars and Sparta Boss occurs at 21:15hrs.

The aforementioned fixtures were realized following a thrilling Round of 16 section on Thursday at the same venue.

Magnum Elimination Bracket

Bent St brushed aside Belfield Warriors 6-2. Sheldon Profitt crafted a hat-trick in the 13th, 14th, and 16th minute, while the trio of Pernell Schultz, Cosmos DeSantos, and Daniel Wilson found the back of the net in the second, 18th, and 24th minute respectively. For Belfield, Keyron Johnson, and Colin Richmond netted in the ninth and 21st minutes.

Similarly, Sparta Boss defeated Mocha 4-1. Jermaine Junior crafted a brace in the 7th and 21st minute, while Ryan Hackett and Gregory Richardson added conversions in the 18th and 22nd minute apiece. Stephon Ramsay scored for Mocha in the 10th minute.

Likewise, Back Circle dismissed Alexander Village 3-0. Stephon McLean tallied a brace in the sixth and 19th minutes while Jermaine Beckles scored in the 17th minute.

On the other hand, Future Stars overcame a 0-3 first-half blitz to defeat Stabroek Ballers 4-3. Jamal Cozier led with a double in the 15th and 22nd minute, alongside strikes from Raushan Ritch and Keron Solomon in the 18th and 21st minute respectively.

For Stabroek Ballers, Mark Jhalu amassed a double in the sixth and 14th minutes while Trevon Pluck scored in the third minute. Identically, Gold is Money came back from a 0-3 deficit to win 4-3 against Tiger Bay.

Randolph Wagner fashioned two goals in the 13th, and 25th minute, with Darren Benjamin and Michael Pedro netting in the 18th and 20th minute apiece. On target in the loss were James Meredith, Orin Moore, and Akeem Lewis in the second, eighth, and 10th minutes respectively.

In other results, North East La Penitence squeaked past Beterverwagting (BV) 1-0. Showstoppers bested fierce rival Agricola 2-0, and Melanie downed East Front Road 3-1.

Winners of the quarterfinal ties will progress to the semi-final round slated for May 14th at the same venue. The winner of the tournament will collect the package of $700,000, and the championship trophy, while the runner-up will receive $400,000 and the corresponding accolade. The third and fourth place finishers will walk away with $200,000 and $100,000 respectively.
