Magnum Independence Cup set for eight titanic matchups

After the conclusion of the group stage, an exciting round of 16 section will take place s this evening with eight titanic matchups in the fourth Magnum Independence Cup at the National Park Tarmac, Thomas Lands.

East Front Road and Melanie will activate the activities at 19:00hrs, before North East La Penitence and Beterverwagting (BV) take centre stage at 19:30hrs. The third fixture will then pit Showstoppers against Agricola at 20:00hrs, while Future Stars tackles emerging unit Stabroek Ballers at 20:30hrs.

In the fifth fixture, defending champion Bent Street takes aim at newcomer Belfield from 21:00hrs with Back Circle opposing Albouystown at 21:30hrs and Gold is Money engaging Tiger Bay from 22:00hrs. In the final clash of the round, Sparta Boss matches skills with Mocha at 22:30hrs.

In the final round of group stage fixtures on Tuesday, deserved wins were recorded by Bent Street, Sparta Boss, Back Circle, BV, East Front Road, and Melanie.

Bent Street downed Future Stars 4-2, while Back Circle defeated Sophia 3-0, and Sparta Boss overcame Avocado Ballers 3-0. Likewise, 5-3 wins were registered BV against Albouystown, East Front Road over Alexander Village, and Melanie against Mocha.

Meanwhile, Gold is Money and Agricola defeated Road Warriors and Vene Stars via walkovers respectively. The competition continues on Saturday with the quarterfinal section.

Winner of the tournament will collect the package of $700,000, and the championship trophy, while the runner-up will receive $400,000 and the corresponding accolade. The third and fourth place finishers will walk away with $200,000 and $100,000 respectively.
