Essequibo Jaguars, Berbice Caimans register contrasting wins

Essequibo Jaguars and Berbice Caimans recorded contrasting victories when the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) T10 Championship continued yesterday at the Enmore Cricket Club ground, East Coast Demerara.

The Essequibo Jaguars defeated the Demerara Pitbulls by one wicket. Batting first, the Demerara Pitbulls scored 94/6 in their allotment. Damion Vantull led the scoring with 42 [4x6s] runs from 22 balls. Jeremiah Scott supported with 35 runs from 24 deliveries.

In response, the Jaguars overhauled the score in 9.2 overs, ending on 100/9. D. Dick and Ashmead Nedd provided a rearguard effort with 27 and 21 runs, respectively, after the top order had collapsed. Adding 15 unbeaten runs was Nial Smith.

Malcolm Hubbard was the pick of the bowlers with 3-16, while L Swammy, C Barnwell, and Gulcharran Chalu snared two wickets each.

Meanwhile, Berbice Caimans thrashed Essequibo Anacondas by six wickets.

Batting first, Essequibo Anacondas recorded 74/7, with Ushardeva Balgobin and Kevon Boodie scoring 26 and 20 runs, respectively. Aryan Persaud was the pick of the bowlers, with 3-3.

In reply, the Caimans successfully chased the target, ending on 75/4 in 9.2 overs. Jonathan van Lange recorded 23 [2x4s, 2x6s] runs from 12 deliveries, while Kevlon Anderson scored 21 runs.
