Gordon Ross, who has been paralyzed for more than 3 years now, said that his plea for an electrically operated chair is not to only better himself but to help him to move about more efficiently while executing his business of buying and selling.

According to the man, his current wheelchair is gradually deteriorating and can no longer support his full weight.

Ross disclosed that his disability was a result of injuries he sustained some time ago while working in the interior.

“I’m paralyzed from the lower spine when I was working in the interior and I got a slip… I was coming down with some load on my shoulder and I slipped and that’s how I end up being paralyzed.”

Nevertheless, he still goes about his business selling in the streets of Georgetown, since it is the only way he earns an honest dollar.

“My problem presently now is having a good wheelchair to move around to earn my living, this chair that I normally use it can’t withstand the pressure, so I’m asking for assistance if anybody could assist me to get one of the electrical wheelchair.”

Due to his inability to walk, selling in the wheelchair after one year of being paralyzed has caused Ross to be the victim of robbery on several occasions.

“I was robbed three to four times since I start selling. Last month they take away my phone, they take my money. I had umbrellas that I was selling, all that they take away, my music box they take, actually everything from me.”

The man said that he is currently trying to open a shed in front of his home to expand his business of selling coconut water.
