Teen charged with attempted murder, assaulting cops

An 18-year-old yesterday appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court to answer to the charge of  attempted murder and assaulting two Police Officers.

Ovlin Blair who appeared before Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus, denied that on January 23rd, 2022, at South Ruimveldt, with intent to murder, he unlawfully assaulted Tyrese Mercy. As such, he was ordered to stay 300 feet away from Mercy.

Blair  also faced two other charges of assaulting two police officers and disorderly behaviour.

According to the charges, on the 13th May, 2022, at the East Ruimveldt Police Outpost, he allegedly, unlawfully assaulted McBean, a Peace Officer and Corporal Sullivan, who were both acting in the execution of their duties.

The teen was also charged with disorderly behaviour within public hearing.

He was granted bail in the sum of $300,000 on the condition that he report to the East La Penitence Police Station twice per month until the conclusion of the matters.

Blair is scheduled to make his next court appearance on June 6th, 2022.
