Pouderoyen dismantled Crane Rovers by a 6-0 scoreline when the West Demerara Football Association (WDFA) Senior Men’s League continued on Sunday evening at the National Track and Field Centre, Leonora.

Head coach of Pouderoyen, Shavaine Gent-Bess during a post match comment said, “The team was very clinical not only in terms of finishing but in executing the game plan which was formulated by the coaching staff. They were very disciplined in the pattern of play and very patient as well.”

A second-half blitz resulted in the lopsided contest, as Pouderoyen fashioned five conversions after the halftime interval.

EJ Mars tallied the only goal of the first stanza, latching onto a squared pass from Glenroy Semple at the top of the box, before uncorking a powerful shot into the left corner in the 25th minute.

Mars then commenced the offensive charge in the 51st minute to seal his double, unleashing another powerful strike that took a slight deflection off the defender and settled into the left-hand corner of the net.

A fortuitous conversion in the 71st minute increased the score to 3-0, as Semple scored. An attempted clearance by the goalkeeper following a back pass by the defender struck the onrushing Semple and flew into the back of the net.

Teffon Fraser further extended Pouderoyen’s lead in the 73rd minute, finishing into the back of the net, after an initial strike from substitute Chad Matthew was parried into his onrushing path by the goalkeeper.

A 5-0 lead was then realized one minute later, as Matthews scored, racing onto a through pass from Devin Gaskin, before slotting his effort into the right side of the net.

The result was sealed in the 87th minute, as Matthews completed his brace, unleashing a powerful shot from inside the 18-yard area into the far corner, after receiving a pass from Eon Sullivan.

Meanwhile, Eagles soared past Wales 4-1. Aashavin Levin fashioned a brace in the 51st and 72nd minutes, while Jamal Landry and Darrel Alexis added conversions in the 67th, and 87th minutes respectively. For the loser, Shaquille DeSantos recorded a consolation goal in the 80th minute.

The tournament resumes on Thursday at the same venue with another doubleheader. At 18:00hrs, Belle West will lock horns with No. #1 All-Stars, while the second match will pit Uitvlugt against Slingerz FC from 20:00hrs.
