East Coast under-17 were routed for 72 in the Demerara Cricket Board inter-association tournament at La Bonne Intention Cricket Ground on Saturday as Georgetown under-17 romped to an eight-wicket win.

Georgetown won the toss and inserted East Coast who toiled for 41.3 of their allotted 45 overs while Georgetown needed just 23.5 overs to reach their revised target of 74. For East Coast, Vickash Wilkinson top scored with 16 from 70 balls while Romeo Deonarain made 10 from 54 balls. No other batsmen reached double figures as extras tallied 19.

Riyad Latif was the pick of the bowlers, taking 5-10 while getting support from Myheim Khan and Jayden Dowlin with figures of 2-12 each.

Transport Sports Club and Georgetown under-17 captain Alvin Mohabir then steered Georgetown over the line with 33 not out. His 41-ball innings featured two fours and a six.

Mohabir, who was called to trials for the West Indies under-19 last year, was supported by Jadon Campbell who made 25 from 63 balls before being trapped leg before wicket to Alex Datterdeen (1-24). Jeremiah Hohenkirk was the other batsman dismissed for a 32-ball nine after being bowled by Hemraj Harripersaud (1-7).
