MMG partners with Shell service stations to launch digital payment

Shell service stations in collaboration with GTT’s Mobile Money Guyana Plus (MMG+) yesterday launched the digital payment service at the Shell, McDoom location on the East Bank of Demerara.

The new service will now allow customers of Sol Guyana Inc who are refueling their tanks with gas to make cashless payments via a QR code.

According to the Managing Director of Sol Guyana Inc, Earl Carribon, the payment will be more convenient and efficient for their customers. He explained that the procedure entails the scanning of a QR code which will be followed by an automatic banking payment.

“Customers can now easily and conveniently pay for fuel and stock purchases through their MMG wallets by simply scanning QR codes.”

GTT Mobile Money General Manager, Bobita Ram, said that her company is tasked with the responsibility to support and make innovative ways for businesses in Guyana to move to higher heights.

“One of our customer promises is to innovate for all in our country.”

Ram further applauded the various companies that have since collaborated with MMG+ to take advantage of modern day technology.

Last month the Demerara Harbour Bridge officially launched the cashless toll system where drivers and commuters were tagged with the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) on their vehicles.
