Pamela Manasseh, Marketing Manager of Beharry Restaurant Holdings Incorporated, has reaffirmed the company’s commitment to the Guyana Mixed Martial Arts Federation (GMMAF) and its developmental narrative, adding that the partnership is indicative of the company’s burgeoning sports catalogue.

This was stated during an exclusive interview with Stabroek Sport (SS). The transcript of the interview in its entirety is featured below.

SS: KFC in particular has an emerging portfolio in sports and has become the premier sponsor of the Guyana Mixed Martial Arts Federation (GMMAF). What is the overall objective of the company with regard to the discipline of MMA?

PM: “KFC realizes the importance of not only cheering on our young people but also demonstrating our interest in their development in a tangible way with our sponsorship dollars. In particular, KFC aims to support young people who are interested in this discipline by supplying them with the tools needed for participation, including equipment, apparel, and financial aid. We understand the importance of the GMMAF and its ability to help our youths develop more like athletes. We want to be involved with the development of our community while continuing to provide opportunities for our youths.”

SS: While KFC’s support and contribution have been fixated on international events, how does the company plan to raise its profile and that of MMA on the local scene?

PM: “I would not say that KFC is fixated on international events; our objective is to assist in the development and skill of our youth as they train locally. The better prepared they are in their local environment, the more they would have the opportunity to excel not only on Guyana soil, but overseas whenever the possibility exists. After all, everyone should have the opportunity to see our talented young people compete as well.”

SN: How do the youth initiative and academic programs play a part in KFC objectives? Similarly, how does Beharry Restaurant Holdings Inc. view the benefits of the recent academic launch to society?

PM: “KFC’s involvement in various youth initiatives and academic programs demonstrates our commitment to youth empowerment and positive societal change. We believe that young people are our future which is why we are proud to be working with them. We want to help prepare the next generation of strong and smart young people who will be able to make positive impacts on society. We hope to see every child in every community, no matter where they come from or what their situation, have the chance to fulfil their dreams and realise their full potential.”
