Local cyclists sweep podium in Suriname

Three local cyclists from three different clubs, took their talents across the border to Suriname on Sunday and swept the podium in the senior category of the Ronde Van Para 52-mile road race which was staged in Paramaribo.

Deeraj Garbarran from Kaieteur Attack Racing (KAR), led countrymen Kemuel Moses (Team Alanis) and Team Evolution’s Christopher Griffith across the finish line as the Guyanese riders dominated their Dutch speaking rivals on their home turf.

Junior cycling standout, Ajani Cutting also of KAR and top veteran’ Paul Choowenam (Team Alanis) were not to be left out as they stood on the highest podium step in their respective categories. It was a great day of racing for the Guyanese contingent who rode away with most of the spoils.

Following the event, the wheelsmen thanked Ray’s Motor Spares, Chin Chan Cycle Store, Neil Gomes, Kevin Jeffrey, Professional Key Shop, and their clubs for making their sojourn a success.
