Forrester’s Lumber and Building Complex of Stewartville became the latest sponsor to financially support West Demerara giant Slingerz FC following their official re-launch on Tuesday.

This is according to a release from the Vergenoegen based club.

The company stated that the partnership provides the perfect avenue to aid in  development of athletes, and that they will continue to support the club, whose aim is to create employment through football.

Meanwhile, Slingerz FC President Javed Ali, thanked the establishment for its timely partnership, adding, “We welcome Forrester’s to the club as one of our sponsors, and I’m making a call on others to align their businesses with the club. Slingerz FC is here to stay (this time). We endeavour and pride ourselves in being a professional club and one which has shown that we are capable of helping to elevate the status of the game in Guyana.”

Following a period of dormancy of approximately six years, the former national championship club was officially relaunched at the Racquet Centre, Woolford Avenue.

Slingerz FC became inactive and remained dormant when FIFA recommended an indefinite suspension  for the club along with Alpha United, after  they had filed an injunction against  the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) following an impasse with the local authority in 2016. The two teams along with Georgetown Football Club and Pele, had pulled out of Elite League. The major contention was the decision of the GFF to increase the Elite League composition from eight to 10 teams [adding Victoria Kings and Topp XX].
