Black Bush man found not guilty of murdering soldier

A Black Bush Polder man was yesterday found not guilty, following a trial at the High Court in Berbice, of fatally stabbing a soldier at Philippi Village, Corentyne, back in December, 2018.

Komal Matthews, 26, known as ‘Son,’ of Mibicuri, Black Bush Polder, was charged with murdering Lieutenant Mark Bagot, 26,  between December 30th and December 31st, 2018.

Matthews was represented by attorneys Sanjeev Datadin and Donavan Rangiah, while the state was represented by attorney at law, Nafeeza Baig.

According to a post-mortem examination, Bagot died from a perforation of the lung due to a stab wound he sustained.
