Wismar man dies after Washer Pond crash

A Wismar, Linden man is now dead after he suffered fatal injuries when he crashed into a rail along the Washer Pond Public Road, in Mackenzie, Linden, on Wednesday morning.

According to the Guyana Police Force, Shawn Deputron, 50, lost control of a motorcycle, #CL 4030, while riding along the road around 05:30 hrs.

In a press release, the police said Deputron, of Lot 63 One Mile, Wismar, was riding the motorcycle, which was owned by Staceyia Whyte, south along the eastern side of the road. As he was making a turn, he reportedly lost control of the motorcycle and collided with a rail, causing him to fall on the road.

Deputron, who was not wearing a safety helmet, was picked up in an unconscious state by public-spirited citizens and taken to the Mackenzie Hospital Complex, where he died while receiving treatment.
