The DCSN Manufacturing Inc pre-stressed concrete plant at Little Diamond was officially commissioned yesterday.

The company is a subsidiary of S. Jagmohan Construction and General Supplies.

Minister of Public Works Juan Edghill attended the ceremony and gave the feature address. According to a statement from the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA), the minister stated that the government will work to create an ideal environment for local and overseas persons who are interested in investing in Guyana.

“We will continue to provide the enabling environment for a buoyant development of our private sector… We will continue to create that environment that instills confidence and gives hope that people can see opportunities to invest here,” he said.

The CH&PA said that Croal lauded the investment which he said is timely given the rapid growth of the construction sector through housing, roads and other infrastructure projects. In 2022, he said that the construction sector is projected to grow by 10.5 percent, and with major development plans slated to be executed under the Ministry, he said that Guyana is likely to surpass these projections.

The Minister further stated that the concrete plant will not only create more employment opportunities but also reduce the need for the importation of similar products.

Chairman of the Private Sector Commission, Paul Cheong and India’s High Commissioner to Guyana Dr K.J Srinivasa were among those present at the event.
