Beaton, Cameron, Adams snapped up by Harpy Eagles for 2022-23

Fast bowler, Ronsford Beaton has returned to the list of cricketers contracted by the Guyana Franchise following the Cricket West Indies’ Professional Cricketers Draft for 2022-2023.

Guyana has opted for five new faces with Antony Adams, Demetri Cameron, Akshaya Persaud and Tevin Imlach the other players to be drafted.

Vishaul Singh and Adams were selected in the draft while the other 13 players were pre-selected.

In the last First-Class season, Imlach ended with an average of 53.75, second only to Tagenarine Chanderpaul (73.16) in the Guyana side while Singh was close behind with an average of 52.40. These were the only batsmen with averages above 50.

Neither Adams nor Beaton featured in the First-Class season while Persaud managed 24 runs from four innings and Cameron bagged four wickets in three matches at an average of 56.5.

Missing out from last year’s list were Kevlon Anderson, Romario Shepherd, Shimron Hetmyer, Christopher Barnwell and Keon Joseph.

The First-Class champions, Barbados Pride have made four changes with Justin Greaves moving to Windward Islands Volcanoes while Kyle Hope, Ashley Nurse and Joshua Bishop make space for Zachary McCaskie, Ramon Simmonds, Shamar Springer and Chaim Holder.

In addition to Greaves, Volcanoes also contracted Nicklaus Redhead, Jerlani Robinson, Shermon Lewis and Tevyn Walcott. Devon Smith has retired while Ryan John, Desron Malony and Kimani Melius were replaced.

Leeward Islands Hurricanes have roped in Rakheem Cornwall, Karima Gore, Daren Benta and Kieran Powell as Amir Jangoo, Kian Pemberton, Tyron Williams and Nino Henry were not contracted.

For Trinidad and Tobago Red Force, Yannic Cariah, Darren Bravo and Shannon Gabriel were included but Jayden Seales, Denesh Ramdin and Kristan Kallicharan were not listed. Kallicharan and Ramdin did not feature this season. Cariah had the best average by a Red Force batsman with 44.85.

Jamaica Scorpions had the most changes with Kirk McKenzie, Leroy Lugg, Brad Barnes, Carlos Brown, Gordon Bryan, Khari Campbell and Aldaine Thomas offered contracts, replacing Sheldon Cottrell, Rovman Powell, Oshane Thomas, Brandon King, Andre McCarthy, Odean Smith and Patrick Harty.

Demetri Cameron

McCarthy, Smith, Thomas, Powell and Cottrell did not feature in the recent First-Class competition while Harty played three matches and bagged seven wickets. King played one match and scored 119 not out.

Teams are building towards the Regional Super50 which was won by Red Force.
