City mechanic stabbed in early morning attack

A 19-year-old mechanic is currently hospitalised in a city hospital after he was attacked and stabbed, allegedly by two masked men early on Friday morning.

Nichlous Greaves, of Stevedore Housing Scheme, North Ruimveldt, was stabbed to his face and arm, according to the police.

He was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was treated and admitted. His condition is listed as stable.

The attack unfolded around 00.35hrs between Lodge Housing Scheme and Meadow Brook Drive, Georgetown.

The police yesterday said that their investigations revealed that Greaves and three of his friends were walking from Meadow Brook Drive, Georgetown. As they approached Lodge Housing Scheme, Georgetown, the police said Greaves stopped to urinate when the suspects approached him from behind. “They had a scuffle and one of the perpetrators, who was armed with a scissors, dealt him (Greaves) two stabs, one to his face and one under his arm,” the police said.

An alarm was raised and Greeves’ friends rushed to his rescue.

The perpetrators managed to escape in an unknown direction on foot. No arrest has yet been made.
