Farmers using the Naamryck wharf, near Parika Backdam, East Bank Easequibo, are happy that it was upgraded, along with the access road, following a request made to President Irfaan Ali when he visited the area.

Roy Sooklall, who has a huge acreage of sweet corn, cabbage, pak choy and ground provision, told Stabroek News that farmers have to transport their produce via boat.

Due to the deplorable state of the wharf and the road, it was very difficult for them to traverse the area.

They were happy that President Ali visited and listened to their concerns and ensured that their lives were made easier.

He said the new wharf and road have benefited him and the other farmers tremendously.
