Hope Secondary emerge victorious

Hope Secondary won the ‘Goodwood Racing Service’ Schoolboys tapeball competition Saturday defeating Cummings Lodge by 13 runs at the Durban Park Tarmac.

Batting first, Hope Secondary reached 41/3 from their allocated five overs. In reply, Cummings Lodge could only muster 28 from their five overs as Hope Secondary walked away with the Goodwood Racing Service trophy.

In the earlier semi-final round, Hope Secondary defeated St. Rose’s High by seven wickets. Batting first, St. Rose’s High scored 38/4 from their allowed five overs. In reply, Hope romped to 40/3. In the other semi-final, Cummings Lodge defeated the Bishops’ High by six wickets.

Batting first, the Bishops’ High registered 33/6 from their allotted five overs. In response, Cummings Lodge tallied 34/4 in 4.1 overs. 12 teams featured in the tournament which was also sponsored by Prem’s Electrical and Go Tag It Export.

Meanwhile, an inter-ministries 11-a-side, six-over tournament, will be staged at the National Cultural Centre tarmac on Sunday. The event, which is being sponsored by Cummings Electrical Company and R&T Taxi Service, will also be coordinated by Lewis. All entrants have until Friday to confirm their participation.
