Another paltry batting display at the Providence National Stadium by West Indies resulted in a nine-wicket loss to Bangladesh, effectively handing the visitors an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

In sunny conditions, the visitors won the toss and inserted West Indies who were rolled over for 108 in 35 overs. Bangladesh then reached 112 for the loss of one with 29.2 overs to spare.

After the match, West Indies captain, Nicholas Pooran admitted that the batting group did not come to the party with the wicket getting better to bat as the innings progressed with 200 a decent score to make.

Local boy, Keemo Paul, who missed the first match due to a positive COVID-19 result, was the only batsman to show some fight with a 24-ball 25 not out which featured four boundaries. Shai Hope made a painstaking 18 from 45 balls before a slog sweep landed in the hands of short mid-wicket off of Nasum Ahmed who also bowled Nicholas Pooran for a golden duck and Shamarh Brooks for five to end with 3-19.

Mehindy Miraz then whipped through the lower order to end with 4-29 while Mosaddek Hossain and Shoriful Islam returned one wicket each.

Kyle Mayers (17), Rovman Powell (13) and Brandon King (11) were the only other batsmen to reach double figures.

In the chase, an even unbeaten 50 from skipper, Tamim Iqbal, ensured his side victory. He struck seven boundaries during his 62-ball innings. This was his 53rd half-century in the format.

Iqbal added 48 for the opening partnership with Najmul Shanto who made 20 from 36 balls before the left-arm spin duo of Gudakesh Motie (1-39) and Akeal Hosein removed him, A back of a length ball by Motie looked to clear mid-wicket but the batsman only managed to pick out Hosein.

Litton Das then got Bangladesh over the line with 32 not out from 27 balls. He struck six fours along the way.
