In order for them to be better equipped as it pertains to government contracts, contractors within the Buxton/Foulis Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC) will be provided with training so that they can properly bid for contracts.

According to  Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill, although the small-scale contractors have been bidding for the various contracts, they still have insufficient knowledge of how do it properly, which results in them not getting the contract.

As such, a collaborative training exercise between the Ministry of Public Works and the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB) will commence soon.

The Department of Public Information (DPI) quoted the Minister as saying, “My Permanent Secretary will work with the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board and we will come back to Buxton right here at Tipperary, and we will conduct a training to help all contractors and start-ups to get more acquainted with their jobs and the procurement.”

In addition to receiving training to properly bid for the contracts, Edghill also told the contractors that being registered under the National Insurance Scheme (NIS) and the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) were also important in order to receive a contract.

Edghill had visited the Buxton/Foulis NDC at Tipperary Hall in Buxton last week, as a follow-up to previous visits from other governmental officials where concerns were raised then about being unable to receive contracts.
