Dear Editor,
It is with deep sadness I received the news that one of my dear acquaintances, Ms. Bibi Shadick has passed away.
Bibi, as I called her in the informal interactive areas, pursued studies with me in the field of education at the University of Guyana related to the Certificate in Education and the Bachelor of Education degree.
While I have little or no interest in her political career, I saw in Bibi a gift to Guyana.
I cannot forget that distinct laughter of hers, her candid approach in conversation and her genuine resentment against injustice, especially in the context of exploitation and abuse of the female. Bibi had a no-nonsense approach in dealing with issues. She could have been viewed as “rough” in speech but my, what a tender heart of love, understanding and compassion she had.
I say goodbye to her. To me, she was a rare person, unique indeed.
