On August 17, China’s Ambassador to Guyana, Guo Haiyan visited Region Six.
A statement from the Chinese Embassy said that during the trip, the ambassador paid courtesy calls on Region Six Chairman David Armogan and Vice Chairman Zamal Hussain, Mayor of New Amsterdam, Winifred Haywood, Mayor of Corriverton Winston Roberts and Mayor of Rosehall Dave Budhu. She also had a meeting with members of the Central Corentyne Chamber of Commerce , and visited Moleson Creek Stelling, the Skeldon Estate, # 63 Beach and the Palmyra Indian Immigration Monument Site.
“It was a trip of learning and friendship. Chinese Embassy would continue to serve as a bridge to facilitate and strengthen the mutual trust, mutual benefit and mutual support between the two countries and two peoples”, the statement said.
