Senior Finance Minister Dr. Ashni Singh today witnessed the signing of a contract totaling $219 million for the upgrade of the Capoey Lake main access road on the Essequibo Coast.

A post on the ministry’s Facebook page said that the project includes 3,000 metres of road upgraded to asphaltic concrete, road edge markings and speed humps. The project is expected to reduce travel time and transportation cost for students and residents residing in Capoey. It will also serve as a tourism booster as well as aid in other economic activities such as rice and cash crop farming.

Signing the contract were Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Works, Vladim Persaud, on behalf of the Government, and the contractor of Technocon Investments.
