A man was yesterday remanded to prison at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court over the illegal possession of ammunition.

Twenty-three-year-old Shaquan Goodluck of ‘B’ Field Sophia appeared before City Magistrate Annette Singh who read the charge to him.

Goodluck pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that on September 3rd at North Ruimveldt, Georgetown, he had in his possession three  rounds of ammunition without being the holder of a firearm licence.

The Court Prosecutor objected to bail on the grounds that the defendant is wanted for a robbery which he allegedly committed some time ago on a supermarket along Aubrey Barker Road. According to the prosecutor, the supermarket said that during the robbery Goodluck had stolen a firearm from them.

Upon hearing the prosecution’s case, Magistrate Singh refused bail.

The matter was then adjourned until September 19th.
