Relatives of Marc Melville have been asked to give statements as it relates to his disappearance and the burnt remains found at Yarrowkabra that are presumed to be his.

The keys that were found some distance away from the scene have matched the locks at the dead man’s house.

The remains are yet to be handed over to the relatives since the police are awaiting  DNA testing results. Stabroek News was told that there appeared to be chop wounds to the skull and other body parts and the body had been  stuffed into a suitcase and burnt. Police on Monday conducted an investigation at Melville’s home and the keys opened doors at his house.

Relatives told Stabroek News that Melville would usually carry a knife in his bag and that the screwdrivers that were found at Yarrowkabra are the same ones he would normally use to make extension cords. Following reports, a search was conducted by police ranks at Snake Farm, Yarrowkabra, Soesdyke/Linden Highway on Sunday, where the burnt remains were found along the trail. The remains were found in some bushes, north of the entrance leading to the Circuit Area, Timehri.

In addition, a number of items including a pair of Air Jordan sneakers, a Seiko watch, a knife blade, two screw drivers, one USB charger cable, and a bunch of keys were found. Further searches were conducted in the area the following day and bone fragments along with two Barbadian one-dollar coins, a piece of a leather belt, and a part of blue denim jeans, were discovered.

Stabroek News spoke with Amanda Henry, Melville’s sister, and she said that he went missing two Mondays back. Melville was a 47-year-old father of two and resided at La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara. He currently has a case in court pertaining to the division of his assets.
