GTTA/NSC two-player team TT tournament on tomorrow

The Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) in collaboration with the National Sports Commission (NSC) Open two-player, team, table-tennis tournament will serve off tomorrow at the National Gymnasium.

According to a provisional schedule, the tournament will commence at 10am with the round robin matches.

The semi-finals will start at 3pm and the final from 4pm.

The tournament director is GTTA president Godfrey Munroe and the competition manager, is GTTA general secretary, Linden Johnson.

Entrance fee is $2000 per team and players are reminded that their membership affiliation dues for 2022 must be paid in order to be able to participate in any GTTA sanctioned event.

The tournament committee will determine the system of play based on the amount of entries and monetary prizes and trophies will be awarded to the winner, the runners-up and the semifinalists.

The deadline for entries is 5pm today and players are asked to officially register with Johnson, Deirdre Edghill, or Idi Lewis on cell phone numbers 621-7630, 650-4520 and 630-3602 respectively.

There will be a $1000.00 extra fee for late entries and a $1000 fee for cancellations.

All COVID-19 protocols will be in place including

• Temperature checks, washing and sanitizing of hands upon entry on arrival

• Wearing of mask by non-competing players at all times when in playing venue.

Only players whose categories are in progress will be allowed to play on the tables and a meeting will be held to discuss all protocols.

Persons infringing the COVID-19 guidelines will be debarred from further participation in the competition
