The Guyana Police Force (GPF) edged home-side the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) 1-0 when the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) Senior Men’s League continued on Friday evening.

Staged at the GFC ground, Bourda, Osafo Simpson settled the outcome in the dying moments of the fixture compliments of a 90th-minute conversion.

Latching onto a cross from Jermaine Junior, Simpson from inside the penalty area, fired his effort into the back of the net to deny the hosts a share of the spoils.

Meanwhile, Fruta Conquerors and GT Panthers played to a 1-1 stalemate in the opening match. The Tucville-based outfit suffered the setback of two red cards in the contest, as the experienced duo of Gregory Richardson, and Manasseh Primo were sent off.

Richardson was issued with his marching orders in the 30th minute for using abusive language to the official. The numerical handicap didn’t impede Fruta Conquerors from taking the lead, as Dwayne James scored in the 50th minute, racing onto a through pass before dribbling the final defender and finishing into the back of the net.

The lead proved to be short-lived as Leon Roberts restored parity to proceedings five minutes later, scoring from the penalty mark. Primo was then sent off in the 69th minute for dissent towards the official. However, GT Panthers were unable to capitalize on their numerical superiority, as the score remained unchanged.
